Shirley Larson, 82, of 201 Plaza Heights Road, Marshalltown, died Tuesday, January 8th, at her home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 12th, at the First Baptist Church with Pastor Conrad Lundberg officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Shirley and her family. Ph 844-1234. Born on December 29th, 1925, in Marshalltown, she was the daughter of Leslie J. and Loreta Olsie (Wallen) Kelso. She graduated from the Marshalltown High Schools class of 1943. On June 25th, 1946, she was united in marriage to Jay S. Larson in Marshalltown. They made their home in Marshalltown all of their married lives where she was employed at Fisher Controls for 40 + years and was a member of the First Baptist Church, Fisher 25 Year Club and the UAW Retirees. Shirley will be fondly remembered for her love of her family, grandchildren and her 18 month great-grandchild, Marten. She enjoyed reading, animals, and in younger years enjoyed roller-skating, dancing, softball, and music. Left to celebrate her life are her daughters: Linda (Mike) Anderson of Marshalltown, Debra (Jim) Siemers of Round Rock, Texas, Jana (Ken) Still of Fox River Grove, IL., six grandchildren: Eric Siemers, Jimmy Siemers, CJ Anderson, Jamie Still, Colin Still and Jill Anderson, great-grandson Marten, her siblings: Jeanne Collins of Indianola (formerly of Marshalltown), Ken Kelso of Georgetown, Texas, Lois Spurling of Riverside, CA, Deed Kelso of Las Vegas, Sally Freese of Marshalltown, Colleen Gessel of Encino, California, JoAnn Jay of Marshalltown, Ronnie Kelso of City of Commerce, CA., and Connie Calvetti of Las Vegas, as well as several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. In death she has rejoined her husband who died in July of 1999, her parents, and a brother in infancy, Leslie Kelso, Jr.
