Shirley Pennell

Shirley Pennell, 82, of Marshalltown, passed away on Saturday, August 18, 2024 at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown.

Graveside services for Shirley will be held on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Marshalltown. Memorials may be directed to the family. Shirley Stanley was born on January 19, 1942 in Marshalltown. She was the daughter of Wayne and Opal (Kelly) Stanley. Shirley was united in marriage to Harold Ray Pennell and they later divorced. She had worked as an LPN at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown. Shirley enjoyed gardening, bird watching and going on car rides, especially on the gravel roads, and would always say “I got to keep them wheels turnin”.

Shirley is survived by her children: Mark Pennell of Marshalltown and Tammy Mohon of Marshalltown. Grandchildren: Bryce (Mary Ann) Pennell, Wayne Mohon, Megan Mohon and Blake Mohon. Shirley is also survived by her great-grandchildren: Macy and Brent and one on the way in November. She will also be missed by numerous friends and her dog: Maggie.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents: Wayne and Opal and brother: Donnie Stanley.
