Sidnee Benge

Sidnee Benge, age 81, of Marshalltown, passed away on Monday, March 11th, 2024 at the Grandview Heights with her husband at her side.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 15th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest in the Riverside Cemetery. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com.

Born on August 25th, 1942, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, she was the daughter of Richard and Clarabelle (Smith) Svec. She graduated from the Marshalltown High School in 1960.

On June 3rd, 1961, she was united in marriage to Thomas Benge at the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Marshalltown. They made their home in Marshalltown until transferring with his job, Lennox Industries to Dallas, TX, in 1977. She had been employed at Fisher Controls and later for Frito-Lay in Texas. The couple most recently returned to Marshalltown this last month due to health issues.

Sidnee enjoyed Texas and her lifelong companions of poodles.

Surviving her are her husband, Thomas, of the Grandview Heights, his nephew David Montz of State Center and her cousin Jami (Wendell) Dolezal of Marshalltown. So many others have touched her life as well, including MaryAnn Burgan and Pam Marie in Texas; Greg and Lori DeSaulniers and Stan Wooster and Jeannine Loros in Marshalltown.

In death, she rejoined her parents and cousin, Jim Svec.
