Stanley C. Randall

Stanley C. Randall, 86, of Melbourne, died Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown. Following cremation, a visitation for Stanley will be held from 4:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m., on Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. A memorial service will take place at 7:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home. A private family burial will take place at a later date. Memorial contributions may be directed in Stanleys name to his family. Stanley was born January 1, 1927, in Marshalltown, Iowa, to LD Shorty and Gladys (Conrad) Randall. He graduated from Rhodes High School in 1945 and entered the United States Army on Memorial day of the same year. Stanley was sent to Wurzburg, Germany where he served in the Post Office. He was honorably discharged in October of 1946. He was married to Jeanne Malloy on October 13, 1947. They were married 59 years and 7 months until Jeanne passed away on February 28, 2007.They had eight children. Stanley was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in State Center, The Melbourne American Legion, Rhodes American Legion and the Iowa Quarter Horse Association. He served on the West Marshall School Board, the Melbourne City Council and was the Mayor of Melbourne for many years. Stanley owned his own plumbing and electrical business in Melbourne for over 30 years. He managed the Central Iowa Fair in the 1980s and after retirement he drove school bus for the West Marshall schools. Of the many roles Stanley played over the years, his favorite was being a bus driver for the many youngsters passing through the West Marshall School system. Stanley was amember of the American Legion for over fifty years. Stanley is survived by 6 children, 19 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren: Ben & daughter: Cassidy (Jeff) Simms JJ, Bruce, Holden & Sophie; Randy (Kathy) & children: Seth, Jackie (Darin) Vaughn Lexi, Jake, Luke and Kaitlyn; Laurie (Garry) Kasal & children: Wade (Jacy) Buck Ally and Ava, Walker Buck Eden and Lilly, Jeanna (Dustin) Eggers Landin, Brodey and Etta; Randall (Chelsea) Kasal Kielly, Angie (Joe) Bunting Jayden and Tysen, Renee Maas Addison and McKinley; Matt (Julie) & children: Jacob (Jen) Kiersten, Ciera and Jenna, Joel (Alyssa) Olivia, Ella and Nora Jane, Morgan (Isaac) Frederick Alayna; Stan L. (Krissy) Ross, Rachel and Riley; & Todd (Nicole) Levi and Avery. Stanley was preceded in death by his wife Jeanne, daughter Mary Beth, and son Barry Conrad.
