Stephen Weeces

Stephen F. Weeces, age 73, formerly of Marshalltown, passed away on Thursday, June 12th, at the Springfield Regional Medical Center in Springfield, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 27th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with family friend, Chad Cook, officiating. He will be laid to rest in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens with full military honors by the active US Navy Honor Guard and the combined VFW and American Legion Honor Guard in the Marshalltown area. Visitation will be one-hour prior to the services.

Stephen, a proud US Naval Veteran of over 20 years, came into this world on September 28th, 1951, in San Antonio, TX, to a military father, Richard Carol and Elsie Margarite “Peg” (Sprague) Weeces. After graduation, Stephen attended and graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Northern Iowa. In the early 2000’s, he went back to school at Iowa State for further education and graduated from there. Stephen was united in marriage to Donna Mercer, and though the two separated, they brought two wonderful children into this world- Frank and Erica.

Surviving him are his children-Erica, Frank (Billy) and Rebecca Curry, brothers Robert and R.C. “Chip” Weeces, as well as his grandchildren Alyssa Weeces (Blake Young), Cheyenne Stokesbary and John Stokesbary and his great-grandchildren Yui, Hinata and Anthony. In death, he rejoined his parents.
