Steve Adkins

Steve Douglas Adkins, 59, of Parnell, Iowa succumbed to his illness in the comfort of his own home, surrounded by his family on June 23, 2022. Memorial services for Steve will be held on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service; beginning at 3:00 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the family. Steve Douglas Adkins was born on August 10th, 1962 in Marshalltown, Iowa to Homer and Lucille (Price) Adkins. He grew up in Le Grand, Iowa and later moved to Marshalltown and finally to Parnell, Iowa. Steve was united in marriage to Deanna (Williams) Adkins which they later divorced. They stayed very close friends and raised their son, Steven Allen Adkins Jr together. Steve loved his son and hanging out with him every change he got. He also enjoyed sports, fishing, cars and being around friends and family. Steve especially loved the Hawkeyes. He loved all of his dogs and all the nicknames he had for them. Steve worked construction his whole life, working for Story Construction for many years. After moving to Parnell, he worked for Iowa Mobile Concrete as a concrete finisher, and took on many tasks and job titles throughout his time at IMC, but was forced to give up his career he loved due to his health. He spent his free time watching various sports games live and on TV; always watching the Hawkeyes every Saturday. Steve also enjoyed movies and watching every criminal show possible. Steve was always there to help relatives and friends with household projects. His brother, Scott and Steve always had a nickname for everybody and everything and that will continue to stand for years to come and always bringing a smile when certain nicknames come forth. Steve is survived by Deanna (Williams) Adkins; son, Steven Allen Adkins Jr and loving nieces, nephews and extended family. Steve was a loving father, husband and friend to everyone. Steve is preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Lucille; brother, Scott Adkins and sister, Candice (Adkins) Crandon. The family would like to extend a special “thank you” to the people at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, for their loving care and support during his final days.
