Steven Niedermann

February 10, 1952 — February 15, 2022

Steven Wayne Niedermann was born February 10, 1952 in Marshalltown, Iowa to Marilee Raider Niedermann and Wilford "Bill" Niedermann. He graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1970. After high school, Steve began working at Wiese Sport Center as a Yamaha motorcycle mechanic. While working at this job, from 1970-1975 Steve was able to attend college. In the summer of 1973, he married Peggy Pollard. Steve completed his degree at Iowa State University in Industrial Technology, shortly after. He worked for a short time at Marshalltown Instruments as an inside sales person. From there he worked in order entry at Fisher Controls from 1976-1983. In 1983 he moved his family to Mansfield, Massachusetts where he worked at New England Controls, a Fisher Representative Company. The family called Mansfield home until returning to Marshalltown in 1990. Upon his return to Marshalltown, he began his job at RS Stover, Co. (a Fisher Controls Representative) where he would stay until retiring in 2014. Always busy, Steve then took up a "retirement job" working as a self-employed salesman for Bankers Advertising Company Promotional Sales out of Iowa City, Iowa. In his younger years, Steve enjoyed participating as a member of the Marshalltown Motorcycle Club, the Noon Optimists, as well as a being a member of the Jaycees while living in Mansfield. He was President of the Little Leagues in both Mansfield and Marshalltown. During his time as president, he helped rebuild the dugouts, replace fencing, and increase safety for players by organizing the purchase of batting helmets with face masks. Steve was a proud coach for all 3 of his boys. From baseball and soccer to YMCA basketball in Mansfield and Marshalltown. Once the boys were out of coaching age, his passion returned to old cars, with one specific dream vehicle, his Ford Anglia. Steve took up fishing with his sons in both Canada and Minnesota. He also liked playing 500 with his monthly card club. Family was a high priority for Steve. He always looked forward to holidays when everyone was home all together. A highlight was a recent family trip to Alabama spending a week all together on the Gulf. He also enjoyed being a dog dad to three Vizslas and little Opie. He is survived by his wife, Peggy, three sons, Jeff (Kate) Niedermann of Marshalltown, IA, Gary (Freddy Jimenez) Niedermann of Los Angeles, California, and Doug (Allison) Niedermann of Marion, Iowa, and his five grandchildren: Porter (14), Teagan (12), Lucy (7), Abigail (4), and Waverly (2). Steve also leaves behind his sister, Connie (John) Walkup of Georgetown, TX; father-in-law and mother-in-law John and LaVonne Pollard of Marshalltown, IA; sisters-in-law Pam Saigh of Mankato, MN; Paula (Bob) Nusbaum of State Center, IA; Patrice (Sean) Ervin of Sioux Falls, SD; and brother-in-law John (Amy) Pollard of Marshalltown, IA; along with many nieces and nephews.
