She spent her early childhood in Des Moines, moving with her family to Marshalltown in 1948. Sue was united in marriage to Robert D. Anderson on March 11, 1956 and they farmed in Beaman and then Gilman until 1986 when they moved to their current residence. Two loving daughters were born to this union, Robin (Steve) Myren of Pennsburg, Pennsylvania and Melissa Anderson of St. Paul, Minnesota. Sue was an award winning Sweet Adeline chorus director and a thirty-year member of that organization. She directed the Heart of Iowa Chorus in Marshalltown for twenty-two years and the Fort Nokomis Chorus in Fort Dodge for seven years. Both choruses won many medals in Regional competition with the Marshalltown Chorus winning the best chorus title in 1983; qualifying them to compete internationally in Las Vegas in 1984. She was the Director of Musical Activities for Region 20 for seven years and also served administratively on the Board of Directors and Convention Steering Committee. She traveled extensively in Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota coaching choruses and quartets. Sue retired from directing in 1992 and was currently a Chapter-at-large member of Sweet Adelines International. Sue had been employed at Meskwaki Bingo and Casino Hotel and Check into Cash. Sue was an avid reader, computer user and enjoyed puzzles of all kinds. She loved animals of all kinds as well and was a bird watcher and feeder. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 58 years; Robert, her two daughters; Robin and Melissa and two wonderful grandchildren; Emily (Salvador) Gomez and Andrew (Brittany) Myren. Sue is preceded in death by her parents, brother C. Fred Burk and an infant son.
