Sue Breuklander, age 61 of Garwin, passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at her home.
Born Susan Elizabeth McIntyre on May 27, 1964, the eldest child of Ray and Linda Sue (Robinson) McIntyre. Sue graduated from Fairfield High School. Sue became a certified nursing aide for over 25 years. She most recently worked with Alzheimer’s patients at Westbrook Acres in Gladbrook, until December 2025 due to her health.
In January of 2005, Sue met Fred Harrington. The couple was not looking for a relationship when they found each other, but now the rest is history. Fred was welcomed by Sue and her daughters, Clairessa and Megan.
Sue enjoyed phone calls with her daughter each day, jigsaw puzzles, and gardening. Sue and Fred had a team effort to care for the outdoor plants, and Sue had a variety of potted flowers and plants inside their home also. Sue was a homebody but enjoyed lunch dates with Fred after appointments.
Sue was preceded in death by her father, Ray McIntryre; her daughter, Megan Streets; and her granddaughter, Emma Forrest. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Fred Harrington of Garwin; daughter, Clairessa Streets of Texas; granddaughters, Mia and Layla Forrest; her mother, Linda Sue Gibson; brothers, Raymond McIntyre, Joe McIntyre, and James Gibson; and her aunt, Janet Wright.
Per Sue’s wishes, cremation rites will take place and there will be no formal services. There will be a celebration of Sue’s life at a later date. Memorial donations may be directed to the family for later designation.
Mitchell Family Funeral Home has been entrusted to care for Sue and her family. To leave online condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. Ph. 641-844-1234.
