Born Susan Kay Taylor on September 25, 1951 in Waco, Texas, she was the daughter of Robert and Paula (Hulke) Taylor. She grew up in Austin, Texas and graduated from McCallum High School with the class of 1969. She was united in marriage to Marty Roberts and they were blessed with one daughter. Sue was then married to Charlie Fairall, though later divorced.
Sue worked for several years as a dental assistant before staying home to take care of her family. Later she owned and operated the County Line bar in Le Grand. She always loved the many connections she made there during the 14 years she owned it.
Sue loved spending time outdoors and traveling, and especially loved seeing the ocean. She was an excellent cook, known best for her tuna noodle casserole. She had an artistic side, enjoying painting and drawing in her younger years. She was a true class act and always felt it was important to dress her best. Sue loved her cats, especially the last several years with her favorite, Loki. She also had many plants and passed her green thumb on to her daughter.
Though she had lived in Iowa since the late 1970s, she was always a Texas girl at heart. Sue always said “y’all” and had plans to return to Texas someday.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Kendra (Chris Anderson) Monk; her grandchildren: Kloey Fairall, Karma Monk and Kam Monk; three great-grandchildren; and her two brothers: Gary (Claudia) Taylor and Kevin (Theresa) Taylor.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Paula Taylor, her brother Bobby Taylor, and her paternal and maternal grandparents.
