Susan Kay Horn was born on November 26, 1946, in Marshalltown, Iowa, to Eldon and Eileen (Olmstead) Horn. She graduated from State Center High School and married Dennis "Shady" Lane on December 11, 1964. Together they had two sons, Brian and Brad.

Sue worked for Lennox Industries for 45 years as a Credit Analyst before retiring. She took pride in her work and built many lasting friendships during her career.

Sue enjoyed spending time outdoors caring for her flower gardens and yard, golfing, and taking care of her dog, Phoebe. In her younger years, she enjoyed sewing and was always working on a new project. She was an avid Iowa State fan who rarely missed cheering on the Cyclones and could often be found watching one home improvement or DIY show after another, always gathering ideas for the next project around the house. She also looked forward to spending time with her "Ladies Club", whose friendships meant a great deal to her.

More than anything, Sue enjoyed being involved in the lives of her children and grandchildren. Whether it was attending activities, celebrating milestones, or simply spending time together, family was always her priority.

Sue will be remembered as a loyal friend, a generous person, and someone who wasn't afraid to speak her mind. She was determined, dependable, and always willing to help those she cared about. The friendships she built lasted for decades and reflected the kind of person she was.

Sue is survived by her son, Brian (Michelle Freidhoff) Lane of Urbandale; her grandchildren, Kreyton, Carter, Lula, Holden, and Addie; her sister, Sally Eckhart of Cary, North Carolina; her brothers, Alan "Butch" (Debbie) Horn of Melbourne and Todd (Carol) Horn of Melbourne; her sister, Tereca "Teri" Ridout of Wake Forest, North Carolina; and her daughter-in-law, Tani Lane.

She was preceded in death by her son, Brad Lane; her parents, Eldon and Eileen Horn.

Sue will be remembered for her loyalty to her family and friends, her strong work ethic, and the many friendships she maintained throughout her life. She leaves behind a family who will miss her every day and will continue to cherish the memories they shared.
