Susan Medhus

Susan Medhus, 73, of rural Gilman, Iowa passed away at Grandview Heights Nursing and Rehab Center in Marshalltown, Iowa, while under the care of Iowa River Hospice, surrounded by her loving family. Family graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. at the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens on Wednesday, October 24, 2018, in Marshalltown, Iowa. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Susan and her family. Susan Jane Petersen was born in Marshalltown on June 6, 1945; she was the daughter of John Robert and Norma (Rabjohn) Petersen. She attended school in the Marshalltown Community School District graduating with the class of 1963. On July 8, 1967, Susan was united in marriage to Clarence Eugene Medhus in Grinnell, Iowa and they made their home in rural Gilman. She had worked at Fisher Controls for 38 years as a machinist. She enjoyed the time with her friends in the Red Hat group. She loved to read, play video games, and do her crossword puzzles. Susan will be remembered for her great sense of humor. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Dane Medhus of Chicago, Illinois, Tara (Roger Freiboth) Johnson of Marshalltown, Iowa, and Mark (Joni) Medhus of Aurora, Colorado; six grandchildren: Tyler, Cody, Quinten, Riley, Megan and Jenna; mother-in-law, Wilma Medhus and brother-in-law Martin (Linda) Medhus. In death Susan rejoins her parents, husband Clarence, and brothers Mike and Steve Petersen.
