Susan Pendarvis

Susan Pendarvis, 74, of Marshalltown, passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2022.

Per the wishes of Susan and her family, cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will take place on Monday, October 31 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Born Susan Shetler on June 13, 1948 in Marshalltown, she was the daughter of Benjamin Franklin and Charlotte Eva (Guyon) Shetler. She graduated from Green Mountain High School in 1966 and went on to attend Marshalltown Community College.

Hardworking and dedicated, Susan worked several jobs over the years, including as secretary at Buena Vista, landscaping at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens, with Steve Sweeney and at Shamrock Yard Care and at Morgan-Hauser. She was united in marriage to Howard Pendarvis and the couple was blessed with two children. She was a loving and devoted mother and her children made her smile more than anything else. She also loved her teddy bear from her mother.

Left to cherish her memory are her two children: Katherine (Brian) Gray and Erik Pendarvis, both of Marshalltown; grandson Sloan Gray; siblings: Gary (Mary Jo) Shetler, Alice (David) Meling and Sally (Dennis) Fish and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In eternal life, she is reunited with her husband, Howard; her parents, Benjamin and Charlotte and her nephew, Jeff Meling
