Susan Sherryl Hall, 79, of Marshalltown, passed away on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at Southridge Specialty Care.
Funeral services for Susie will be on Monday, November 24, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Visitation will be on Sunday, November 23 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. also at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family for designation at a later time. Susan “Susie” Sherryl Hall was born on September 22, 1946 in Marshalltown, and grew up in Rhodes. She was the daughter of Henry “Ed” Edward and Doris Nadene (Borts) Hall. Susie graduated from West Marshall High School in 1964 and attended Iowa State University for one year, studying in Dietetics. While at Iowa State, she was also in charge of cooking at the ACB sorority house. Susie mostly called Minneapolis and Marshalltown home, but she also lived in New York, Oregon and Florida for a short period of time as well as Brussels, Belgium for one year transcribing manuscripts. While in Minneapolis, Susie worked at a nursing home in the dietary department. Susie was fluent in French and sign language and was a member of the Assemblies of God Churches and member of the First Assembly of God Church in Marshalltown. She enjoyed puzzles, world studies, making greeting cards and decorating wedding cakes. Susie also owned her own daycare business and would help young families in need of a sitter and had also been a Sunday school teacher. While she had no children of her own- she enjoyed spending time around other children.
Susie is survived by her siblings: Sharon Ekern of Des Moines, Michael (Charlotte) Hall of Marion, Jeff “Tuffy” Hall (Wendy Eldridge) of Rhodes and David (Lorrie) Hall of Rhodes. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.
Susie is preceded in death by her parents: Henry and Doris; brother-in-law: John Ekern; grandparents and extended family.
