To carry on her legacy, the family has encouraged anyone who would like to remember Susan in a special way to make memorials in her honor to the Iowa River Hospice, The Melbourne Pool Fund or to the United Way which funds the above; or to the Main Street Dance Academy, 6 West Main Street, Marshalltown where her daughter was an active member. The Watt family appreciates sincerely your kind actions and warm support.Susan (Mrs. Doug) Watt, 45, of Melbourne, Iowa, died Tuesday afternoon, December 29th, at the Iowa River Hospice House with her family at her side. A funeral and celebration of her life will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, January 2nd, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown with Pastor Brent de Silva of the Melbourne United Methodist Church officiating. Cremation rites will follow the services. Memorials may be made in her honor to: The Melbourne Pool Fund or Iowa River Hospice in Marshalltown, or for both through the United Way. Born on January 13th, 1964, in Rock Island, IL, she was the daughter of Ron and Shirley (Slayden) Ernat. She received her education in the area of her birth and her AA degree from AIC in Davenport. On July 23rd, 1988, she was united in marriage to Doug Watt in Davenport. They made their home in the Quad-Cities for a couple of years and then to Melbourne. Mrs. Watt was employed at the Newton Correctional Facility and loved cooking and spending time with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed. Left to cherish her memory are Doug, her loving husband of 21 years, 16-year-old son Dillon and ten-year-old daughter Molly, all of Melbourne, her father Ron, siblings Mark, Paula and Curtis Ernat, her father and mother-in-law Dr. Russell and Marie Watt of Marshalltown, Dougs siblings: Dr. Cathleen Watt of Chicago, Dr. David Watt of Annapolis, Maryland and Ken Watt of Norwood, Colorado. In death she has rejoined her mother, Shirley.
