Susie Haskins

Susie Haskins, 50, of Nevada, died Sunday afternoon, September 12th, at the Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 16th, at the First Christian Church in Nevada with Rev. Karen Fausch officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Eden Cemetery at Rhodes. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the church. A memorial fund is being established. Born on October 17th, 1959, in Aurora, MO., she was the daughter of William and Betty (Williams) Smith. She received her education in the West Marshall Schools. Susie was employed in healthcare with the mentally challenged. She enjoyed her ministry with them and treasured her family. She liked cats, listening to music, volunteering at the animal shelter, going to Brown and Sons in Marshalltown to the jam sessions, and will be fondly remembered for being a jolly, lively, caring person who could make you laugh when you wanted to cry. She lit up the room when she entered and will be greatly missed by many. Left to cherish her memory are David Ott, her companion and friend of many years, her mother Betty of Nevada, sisters Mary Schmidt and Betty Hernandez, as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and friends and Pomeranian dog Elliott. In death, she has rejoined her father, son James Henry Wiese and grandparents.
