Tami Uptain

Tamara (Plum) Uptain, age 66 of Marshalltown, passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown.

Born Tamara Ann Plum on November 12, 1959, in Marshalltown, the youngest child born to William and Neva (Corrick) Plum. Tami’s family moved to Alamogordo, NM in 1971, where she later graduated high school.

On June 1, 1979, Tami was united in marriage with Barry C. Uptain at Bethel Baptist Church in Alamogordo, NM. They lived in Montana, Texas, and most recently Marshalltown, IA.

Tami was a wonderful mom; she managed to keep up with her twin boys, and was active in her church and activities. She enjoyed creating arts and crafts, especially crocheting and ceramics.

Left to cherish Tami’s memory are her sons: Kenneth (Leslie) Uptain of Texas and Nickolas (Christine) Uptain; grandchildren: Carson, Owen, Ethan, and Charlotte; and her sister: Deborah (Butch) Horn. In death, Tami is reunited with her parents: William and Neva; husband, Barry, who passed in 2020; sister, Kathy Plum; and brother, Doug Plum.

Per Tami and her family’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. There will be no services held at this time. Tami will be laid to rest by her father in New Mexico.
