Tamara "Tami" Winter, 52, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at the Iowa River Hospice Home surrounded with her family and her best friend. Funeral services for Tami will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 19, 2015, at Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Pastor Bobby Shomo officiating. She will be laid to rest at the Green Mountain Cemetery after services. Following burial, all are invited to the Lions Club Community Center in Green Mountain for food and refreshments. Public visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2015, at Mitchell Family Funeral Home where her family will be present to greet friends. Tamara Vry was born on October 10, 1962, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the daughter of Gary F. and Judith E. (Lynch) Vry. She was raised and educated in the Green Mountain school district graduating from Green Mountain High School with the class of 1981. On February 14, 1985, Tami was united in marriage to the love of her life, Michael Winter, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Michael preceded her in death in 1990. Tami was a people person enjoying various jobs. Companies she worked for included Ron Fisher Furniture, Earl May Nursery and Haley's Deli. Working at Earl May is where she further developed her life-long love and passion for animals, especially birds. Tami was a proud member of the NRA, Pool League of Marshalltown, Womens League of Marshalltown, Iowa State Pool Players Association (ISPA) and Midwest Paranormal Field Investigators (MPFI). She had a passion for spending time with her family and friends, animals, aquariums, watching movies, playing pool, collecting guns and knives as well as cars. Left to cherish Tami's memory are her mother, Judy Vry of Encinitas, California; her four "fur babies": three dogs, Monique, Teddy, Samantha and one cat, Tess; three uncles: John Lynch of Clear Lake, Iowa, William Lynch of San Diego, California and Larry Vry of Green Mountain, Iowa; one aunt, Pam Zugg of Marshalltown, Iowa; her very best friend, Kelly Steffen; several cousins including Paige Zugg and her daughter Keely of Des Moines, Iowa, and Aaron Vry of Las Vegas, Nevada, to whom she was especially close. She is preceded in death by her husband, Michael Winter; her father, Gary Vry; all of her grandparents and one uncle, Noel Vry.
