Tavian Hicks

Tavian Hicks, 23, of Marshalltown, Iowa passed away suddenly on the morning of October 16, 2021. Services for Tavian will be held on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. A Visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the beginning of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Tavian’s name may be directed to the family for a later designation. Tavian Lawrence Hicks was born on January 2, 1998 to parents Christopher Hicks and Angel Vaughan in Jefferson, Iowa. He attended school in Marshalltown, Iowa. Tavian worked in construction, most recently for Paul Wilson Enterprises, but prior to that worked various construction projects for different companies. His most important job was raising his daughter Ariel Marie Hicks who meant the world to him. In addition to being a parent, his biggest attribute was his loyalty to his family and his friends. He had a huge heart, was quick to crack a joke, a devoted father, son, brother, and grandson, and was always encouraging. He would always be there for anyone that needed someone to talk to. In his free time, he enjoyed anything that had to do with cars, listening to music, racing, spending time with his daughter and his friends and family, playing video games and working on his car/truck. Tavian is survived by his daughter, Ariel Hicks; his parents, Angel Vaughan and Christopher Hicks; his siblings, Ashton Hicks and Gavin Hicks; his half siblings, Sydney Custer, Cheyenne Vazquez, and Rebba Geslicki; his grandparents, Lisa Coellner and Marty Murphy, Mark (Jean) Mulinix, Mark Hicks and Eric Ellis; his aunts and uncles, Blake Murphy, Crystal Beyers, Jennifer Villebro, Kimberly Albin, Amber Mulinix, Kole Mulinix, Nathan Ellis, Travis Hicks and Danny Hicks; alongside numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his friends Michael Waltemeyer and Lino Rivera and his great grandparents.
