Theodore Ted Schultz, 80, and his jovial spirit left this world on the morning of Wednesday, August 31, with his loving family at his side and in the care of the Iowa River Hospice while at the Hospice House.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 6, at the Christ Lutheran Church in Gladbrook with Pastor Bruce Zimmerman officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Conrad Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. Monday at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home, 1209 Iowa Avenue West, Marshalltown. Born on May 27, 1931, north of Green Mountain, Iowa, he was the son of Albert and Florence Marie (Johnson) Schultz. He received his education in the Conrad Public Schools. In 1950, he moved to Gladbrook. On September 1, 1951, at the Methodist Church in Marshalltown, he was united in marriage to Beverly Mott. They made their home at Gladbrook until 1986, when they moved to Marshalltown. He began his working career for Lynk Brothers/Baird Seeds, then farmed near Gladbrook, did truck driving for Morgan-Hauser Steel from 1988 to 1996 and for Donald Mann the past three years. Ted was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church and served as elder, deacon, finance secretary and treasurers. He was also a member of the Mid-Iowa Antique Power Association, former member of the LeGrand Lions Club, and enjoyed fishing, camping in Minnesota and time spent with his family. Left to cherish his memory are Beverly, his loving wife of 60 years, three children: Jerry (Janice) of Gladbrook, Dennis (Diana) of Riverside, Iowa, and Debra (Carl) Wheeler of Gladbrook, four grandchildren- Jessica (John) Blohm of Reinbeck, Janell (Jason) Boldt of Reinbeck, Samantha Wheeler of Ankeny and T.J. Schultz of Riverside, great-grandchildren- Dylinn and Kael Blohm and Devin Boldt, sister Esther Goos of Gladbrook, as well as many family members and friends. In death, he rejoined his parents, brothers Ed, Bill, Karl, Otto, Paul, and Bob.
