Ted Clifton Sorem

Ted Clifton Sorem, 57, of Marshalltown, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 22nd, 2021. Memorial services for Ted will be held on Wednesday, June 30th, 2021 at 2 p.m. at Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Visitation will take place prior to the service; from 12:30 p.m. until 2 pm. Memorials may be directed to the family. Ted Sorem was born on January 5th, 1964 in Marshalltown to Sherman and Nancy Koehler Sorem. Ted graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1982 and from MCC in 1983 with a degree in Auto Mechanics. On August 16th, 1986, Ted was united in marriage to Kim Marie Huggins in Marshalltown.  Ted was previously employed through Region 6 as a driver for People Rides as well as CIRSI as a Direct Care staff member, both in which he enjoyed  because of the interactions he had with people. Ted enjoyed fishing, working on cars (his dream vehicle would have been a 1972 El Camino) but most importantly being around any family.   Ted will be best remembered for having the “Gift of Gab” and anyone he met being a friend. Ted will be missed by his wife of almost 35 years, Kim; children Tyler, Sydney, Lexi, and Jadyn; siblings: Scott (Susan) Sorem of Gladbrook, and Jeff Sorem of Marshalltown. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews among other beloved family members and friends. Ted is preceded in death by his parents: Sherman and Nancy.
