Teresa Simmons

Teresa Simmons, 58, of Marshalltown, died Thursday, January 20, 2011, at the Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center. Funeral services for Teresa will be held Tuesday, January 25, at 10:30 a.m., at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Visitation for Teresa will be held Monday, January 24, from 5:00 7:00 p.m., at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home where her family will be present to greet friends. Their family lived in Fairfield, Iowa for a short time before moving to Marshalltown. Teresa was educated in the Marshalltown School System. On January 28, 1972, in Marshalltown, she was united in marriage to Jimmie Simmons. Following their marriage they made their home in Marshalltown where she worked for the Marshalltown School System for a short time before becoming a homemaker for her family.Teresa enjoyed painting, word puzzles and crocheting, but most of all she loved to sing. She also loved cats and even rescued a mother and her kittens, raising them for several years. Most of all she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother to her family. Teresa is survived by her husband Jimmie of Marshalltown, her daughter Sherry Prusha of Marshalltown, her grandson Quinten Charlier, her brother Norman (Mary) Erlandson of Texas, her half-sister Jody Erlandson of Des Moines, her step-mother Rona Erlandson of Des Moines, her brother-in-law Steve (Marg) Simmons, of Marshalltown, her nephew Leonard and her nieces Amber and Kristen. Teresa was preceded in death by her parents and her uncle Phil Collins.
