Terry Lynn Mellows

Terry Mellows, 68, a lifelong resident of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at Mary Greeley Hospital, with his loving family by his side. Memorial services for Terry will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 22, 2015 at Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Brant officiating. Public visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 21, 2015 at Mitchell Family Funeral Home, where his family will be present to greet friends. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Terry and his family. Terry Lynn Mellows was born on September 28, 1946 in Marshalltown, Iowa, the son of William and Clara (Elliot) Mellows. He was raised and educated in the Marshalltown School District, graduating from Marshalltown High School in 1964. Following high school, Terry honorably served his country by joining the United States Air Force. On December 9, 1972, Terry married the love of his life, Mary "Lennie" Beecher, in Marshalltown, Iowa. They had four loving children: Todd, Chrissa, Terry and Sarah. Terry was a very dedicated man, working almost 42 years at Lennox Industries before retiring. He was a proud member of the UAW. Terry had many passions in his life, including fishing, playing cards, collecting, and family time (especially with his grandkids). Terry was very competitive, as well as an avid sports fan. Some of his favorites were NASCAR and cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes. Left to cherish Terry's memory is his loving wife of 42 years, Mary "Lennie" Mellows; children: Todd (Marsha) Mellows, Chrissa (Jarod) Elsberry, Terry W. Mellows and Sarah (Connor) Reynolds; grandchildren: Jason Mellows, Chelsea Mellows, Dylan Hutzel, Jack Elsberry, Joshua Reynolds, Brayden Mellows, Ella Reynolds and Levi Reynolds; siblings: Bill (Gratia) Mellows, Gary (Betty) Mellows; In-Laws: Rick (Julie) Beecher, Gary Beecher, Diane Beecher and Shelly ("Dink") Freiburger. He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Clara Mellows; and three sister-in laws: Susan Smith, Judy Beecher and Sue "Deuce" Beecher.
