Terry Stonewall

Terry Stonewall, 75, of Marshalltown, died Tuesday, June 10th, 2014. A celebration of Terrys life will be held on Wednesday, June 18th at 11:00 a.m., at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Terry was born August 5th 1938, in Gilman, Iowa, the son of Julius Bertram and Malene Marie (Brimso) Stonewall. He was raised on the family farm and attended the Gilman School System. Terry proudly served our country in the US Navy from 1955 to 1965 and then went to work for Strands Bakery, where Terry met Greta, his true love. Terry & Greta were married on August 6th, 1968. Terry lost Greta in 2007 and had to carry on without her. In 1968 Terry began a 33 year career with Bruin Mfg. until his retirement in 2003. Terry had a strong appreciation for music, he loved all the good stuff from the 50s and 60s. Terry was an avid Hawkeye Fan, enjoyed the Stonewall Reunions (kumla), playing cards with his friends at Clarks Bars in Melbourne and enjoyed reading Tom Clancys books. Terry was a loving and caring father & grandfather who loved & enjoyed his family especially his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Terry is survived by his three children: Brett (Melissa) of Cedar Rapids, Chad of Marshalltown and Shea of Cedar Rapids, as well as grandchildren: Trea, Addison, Isabel and Delaney. His siblings Vivian Brand of Marshalltown, Dale (Berniece) Stonewall of Cedar Rapids, Violet (Gilbert) Samudio of Rancho Palos Verdes, California, Jerry (Patty) Stonewall of Seattle, Washington. Terry was preceded in death by his wife Greta, his Brothers: Wayne, Ozzie, Roger, Manley, Addison and his best friend and father in law Tommy Leavy.
