Terry Weaver

Mary Theresa Terry Weaver, 64, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on May 11, 2013, at Mercy Hospital and Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday May 17, 2013, at St Marys Catholic Church in Marshalltown, Iowa. There will be no visitation. Terry left instruction that her celebration of life not be mournful and include festive attire. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Marshalltown YMCA. Terry was born on October 8, 1948, in Wichita, Kansas. She was the cherished daughter of Dr. James Robert (Bob) and Mary Louise Crawford Weaver. Terry attended school in Wichita, Kansas at Mt. Carmel Catholic High School. She went on to receive her B.A. in education at St Marys College, she worked hard to earn her Masters in Administration at The University of Missouri at Kansas City. On June 2, 1979, Terry was united in marriage to Jerry Macke in Kansas City. Terry was a lifelong learner, educator and a strong advocate for children. She had a gift for connecting with students. She loved to sing the oldies at the top her lungs and did it badly but that didn't stop her. Terry enjoyed reading, watching old TV mysteries, playing the penny slots, and starting her day with a Dr. Pepper and a cigarette. She also spent summers traveling. Many family vacations were enjoyed making life long memories at Disneyland. This past summer she fulfilled a dream and attended mass at the Vatican while exploring Rome. As a mommy she encouraged Jenny, Katie and Megan to be independent, follow in her footsteps to never learn to cook and to keep things tidy. She was so proud of each of them for all their accomplishments! Abuelita (or Tata as Mr. Crawford endearingly named her) adored the grandchildren and had a way of making each of them feel unique, special and very loved. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 33 years, Jerry Macke; her mother, Mary Louise Crawford Weaver; her brother, Jim (Chris) Weaver; and her children: Jennifer Dorsey (Tony) Gavito; Kathleen Ann Macke (Scott) Jones; and Megan Elizabeth Macke. Also celebrating her devotion are her beloved grandchildren: Dominic Anthony and Alexander Crawford Gavito; Baby Girl Jones (due soon); and Lily Elizabeth, Flora Theresa, Brittney Louise, Sabrina Ellen and Nathaniel Paul Macke. In death Terry rejoins her daddy, Dr. Bob Weaver.
