The Vibrant Spirit And Personality Of Sharon Burns

December 7, 1942 — April 29, 2014

The vibrant spirit and personality of Sharon Burns, age 71, of Laurel, departed this earth on the afternoon of Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at her home. Her death came suddenly and unexpected just 24 hours after her dear friend and mother-in-law of her son, Gary, died (Donna Maulsby). A service to honor her memory will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 5, 2014, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Please come in casual attire. Private interment will be at a later date. Visitation will be held from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. Ph. 641-844-1234. Born on December 7, 1942, (one year after Pearl Harbor as her son Johnny reminded her) in Marshalltown, she was the daughter of Richard William and Mildred (Beck) Burns. She received her education in Marshalltown. Sharon was one of the most generous, loving and caring people youd ever meet and loved to go to thrift stores and garage sales. She taught her boys to dance, so at the school dances, they would be able to confidently go out on the floor. She enjoyed a glass (or glasses) of wine which always made family weddings more fun! Her personality was entertaining and addictive to others. Without a doubt, she is now in the front row of Elviss concerts in heaven. Sharon was a talented beautician in her life, managing the Regis store in Marshalltown, Marble Arches, and then in Des Moines until the chemicals of hair care products affected her health. Sharon also dabbled in marriage but didnt succeed after four timesbut she always maintained her friendship with these gentlemen. Left to cherish her memory and the smiles that come with it are her sons: Gary (Tracy) Catron of Gilman, and Johnny (Natalie) Catron of Wichita Falls, Texas; her grandchildren: Lindsay (Emily) Catron of Dayton, Ohio; Ryan (Tiffany) Catron of West Des Moines; Madeline and Shelby Catron of Wichita Falls; and Caitlin and Anastasia Pawloski; as well as her great-grandchildren: Jaylan, Kinder, Keyshawn, Emily, Alex and Sophia; her special granddaughter, Megan (Moises) Juarez of Gilman. Also surviving are her much loved brothers: Richard D. (Shirley) Burns of Cambridge, Illinois; and Dennis R. Burns of Maple Grove, Minnesota; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, her leisure home family in Laurel, and friends. In death, she rejoined her parents. Dont cry for me because I am gone, but laugh and smile because I was here!
