She had attended school in Minnesota and also various schools in Iowa. On February 19, 1938, Thelma married the love of her life, Oliver Edward Armbrecht at St. John Lutheran Church, north of State Center. From this union, two daughters were born, Ardis and Marlys. The day was always off to a good start when Thelma could milk her cows, feed her chickens, and care for her family. She worked alongside her husband in farming until 1966, when she began working at Marshalltown Instrumentsa career she held for the next 17 years. Thelma was a faithful member of St. John Lutheran Church, St. John Ladies Aid, Neighborly Helpers Club, and Red Hat Club. She was also a proud member of the Dutchs Dollies supporting the election of President Reagan in 1980 and 1984. She had a passion for cooking, farming, gardening, canning, playing cards, milking her cows, feeding her chickens, and spending time with her legacy of children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great- great grandchildren. Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters: Ardis (Richard) Wolf and Marlys (late William) Coady; grandchildren: Karen, David, James, Michael, and John; great- grandchildren: Megan, Darci, James Jr., Michael, Taylor, and John Daniel; great-great-grandchildren: Gavin, Jayse, Drew, Logan, Luke, and two babies on the way; one half sister, two half brothers; and one sister- in-law, Betty Stoen. Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Edna; husband, Oliver Armbrecht; one granddaughter; one son-in-law; four half brothers; one half sister; and her step-mother.
