Thelma Clemons, 89, of Marshalltown, died Monday evening, October 28th, at the Villa del Sol. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 4, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Visitation will be on Sunday, November 3, 2013 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. also at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family. Born Thelma Norman on January 27th, 1924, at home near New Providence, Iowa, she was the daughter of John Thomas and Addie (Brindle) Norman. She received her education in the area of her birth; graduating from Liberty High School in 1941 and later received her LPN degree in Arkansas. She was employed for many years at the Arkansas Veterans Hospital. On December 4th, 1941, she was united in marriage to Rex Wayne Clemons at her parents home. They resided in Marshalltown and later Arkansas for 30 years until moving back in 1997. Thelma was a member of the 1st Friends Church. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Thomas (Jean) Clemons of Marshalltown, Jack (Lydia) Clemons of Cypress, Texas, Curtis Clemons of Shirley, Arkansas, Nancy Centofante of Centertown, Maryland, Janine Clemons of Richardson, TX and seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In death, she rejoined her beloved husband Rex, her son Rex who died in 1994, grandsons Bryan and Jared Clemons and siblings; John Lester Norman, Mildred Norman, Howard Norman, Roy Norman and Irma Hamm.
