Thelma Sevcik, 99, of Toledo, died Saturday morning, May 28, at the Carrington Place in Toledo where she had resided since January.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the 2:00 p.m. service time. She will be laid to rest at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery north of Toledo. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. Ph. 641-844-1234. Born on March 22, 1912, at Toledo, Iowa, she was the daughter of Floyd and Elizabeth Lizzie (Taylor) Flynn. She received her education in the area of her birth.On March 4, 1933, she was united in marriage to William Bill Sevcik in Toledo. They farmed northeast of Toledo until moving into the town of Toledo in 1943. For a short time, Mrs. Sevcik ran a button cutting machine for the Muscatine Button Company which had a location in Toledo Heights. She was a member of the Toledo United Methodist Church and the Toledo American Legion Auxiliary as well as a former member of Navy Mothers. She enjoyed gardening, pets (especially English Bulldogs) cooking, canning, and treasured her family. Left to cherish her memory is her four children: Juanita (Duane) Freese of rural Toledo, Rex Sevcik of Toledo, Jean (the late Robert) Papesh of Bloomington, Indiana, and Tim Sevcik of Chelsea; 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. In death, she rejoined her beloved Bill who died on January 15, 1992, brother Leonard (Nellie) Flynn, son Marvin Eugene Sevcik who died at three weeks, son-in-law Robert Papesh and her parents.
