Theodore Ted Peterson, 86, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on the morning of Thursday, October 20, 2016, at the Iowa River Hospice Home, with his loving family by his side. Funeral services for Ted will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 24, 2016, at Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Pastor Sawyer Woodsmall and Pastor John Whitehead officiating. Public visitation will be held one hour prior to services. Following services, Ted will be laid to rest at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Ted and his family. Theodore Peterson was born on October 17, 1930, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the son of Clarence and Maye Bell (Stellik) Peterson. He was raised and educated in the Marshalltown school district, graduating from Marshalltown High School with the class of 1948. Ted honorably served his Country in the United States Army during the Korean War. On September 4, 1965, Ted was united in marriage to the love of his life, Peggy Cafferty, at the Methodist Wesley Chapel in Marshalltown, Iowa. From this union three children were born: Kimberly, Ken and Kristin. Ted was a hardworking man dedicating his career to heavy construction and most recently he became a self-employed contractor. He was a member of the VFW and Carpenters Local. Ted had a passion for hunting, fishing, cooking, woodworking, cribbage, spoiling his grandchildren and dogs. Left to cherish Teds memory is his wife, Peggy Peterson; children: Kimberly (Brian) Wallace, Ken Peterson and Kristin (Mathew) McKibben; grandchildren: Michael, Alexis, Zoe, Jared and Allyson; one brother, Larry Peterson. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Maye Bell; and siblings, Maxine, Mildred, Don, Charlotte and Bill.
