Theresa Drummer Vanderah, 91, died late Saturday, January 25, at the Polk City Nursing and Rehab Center. She was a former resident of Laurel, Marshalltown, and Haverhill. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, January 31, 2014, at St. Henrys Catholic Church in Marshalltown. She will be laid to rest in the Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2:00 6:00 p.m., Thursday, January 30, 2014, with the family present from 4:00 6:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 5:30 p.m. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. Ph. 641-844-1234. Born Theresa Clara Weig on October 29, 1922, at Wesley, Iowa. She was the daughter of John and Mary Weig. Theresa received her education in the area of her birth. On February 10, 1945, Theresa was united in marriage to Edmund Drummer in Fresno, California. Upon return to the central Iowa area, they were engaged in farming in the Laurel and Kellogg areas. They retired into Marshalltown. Mr. Drummer passed away on January 10, 1980. Theresa was a general manager of the Knights of Columbus Hall in Marshalltown from 1980 until 1984. On November 9, 1984, she was united in marriage to Arthur Bud Vanderah. He died on March 21, 1999. Theresa enjoyed bowling, dancing, bingo, playing cards, traveling, watching and playing baseball, and watching ISU basketball games, and she treasured her family. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Darlene (Dennis) Bovee of Ames; her grandchildren: David (Kathy) Bovee of Ankeny, and Darla (Jacob) Thein of Springville; as well as three precious great-grandchildren: Corinne, Ethan, and Ellie. Preceding her in death were her parents, John and Mary Weig; her beloved husbands, Edmund and Arthur; four sons: David, Daniel, Dale, and Darrell; five brothers: Joseph, Edward, Raymond, John, and Eugene; and two sisters: Mary and Viola.
