Thomas Eugene Butters, 75, of Marshalltown, Iowa passed away on January 10, 2015 at Oakview Nursing Home in Conrad, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 15, 2015, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Thomas Eugene Butters was born on July 23, 1939, in Marshalltown, Iowa; he was the son of Lyle and Mildred (Viers) Butters. He attended School in the Conrad Community School District graduating with the class of 1957. On June 18, 1960, he was united in marriage to Leanna Rae Smith in Union, Iowa. Thomas had farmed his entire life and was also a member of Farm Bureau. He enjoyed deer and pheasant hunting, shooting, horse riding, Military and Western History. Left to cherish his memory are his children: Nancy (Larry) Morford of Marshalltown, Iowa, Jeff (Angela) Butters of Dallas, Texas and Mark (Taffie Lynn) Butters of Dallas, Texas, grandchildren, Ashley (David) OBrien, Tyler Morford, Stephanie Morford, Melissa (Eric) Elliott, Cassandra Butters, Alesha Butters, Haley Butters, Jeff Butters, Reese Dame, Walker Dame and Pierce Dame, great-grandchildren: Caitlin OBrien, Abigail OBrien and Luke Andrew Elliott. In death Thomas rejoins his parents, Lyle and Mildred, and wife, Leanna.
