Thornton Wilder, 61, of Marshalltown, died Tuesday, January 5, 2012, at his residence. Funeral services for Thornton will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 21, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Visitation for Thornton will be held at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Following cremation, a private family burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery at a later date. He was raised and educated in Marshalltown where he attended the Marshalltown School System and went on to live in Marshalltown all of his adult life. Thornton is survived by his son John and his wife Lisa of Chicago, Illinois, his brother Stevie and his wife Gail of Des Moines, his sister Sharon of Long Beach, California, and his grandchildren: Jackson, Mackenzie and a little one on the way. Thornton was preceded in death by his parents.
