Our dear husband, son, father, brother, uncle, son-in-law, brother-in-law, and friend, Tim Hobbs, departed his earthly life on Tuesday, August 25, 2009, at the Grinnell Regional Medical Center. His death came peacefully at 5:05 PM after a brief, 15-day struggle from cancer. Being a giving person in life, he likewise was in death. Tim has donated his body to Anatomy Sciences at the University of Iowa so that others may learn. Tim was born on May 5, 1955, at Deaconess Hospital in Marshalltown, the youngest of two sons born to Ron and Mary Lou (Burnett) Hobbs. He graduated from SEMCO High School with the Class of 1973. Following his passion for creating, building, and fixing, Tim went to technical trades school at MCC following graduation. He soon worked for Lennox as a welder for 11 years. He also worked for many years in maintenance at Certainteed. In the mid-90s, he became an electrician, and then in 1999, he went to truck driving school and drove over-the-road freight. His love for family brought him back home on a more regular schedule to drive a portable MRI machine to various Iowa hospitals for Shared Medical. He totally enjoyed meeting and helping people as well as the machine itself. Tim was constantly challenged and in awe of the computed technologies involved in that entire operation. In 2003, he worked for USF Holland trucking in Des Moines. On June 22, 2001, he was united in marriage to Peggy (Diers) Weir in Tama, Iowa. Their union was celebrated along with their children, who also participated in the ceremony. Tim was always one to try to figure out how to operate, build, or fix something. He loved history, technology, and the ever-growing and changing artistry of nature. Following his strokes in 2007, he was unable to return to a paying job, but this brought him closer to his family, especially his children, and most importantly, his 9 grandchildren. He was always teaching and yes, sometimes preaching, about learning, listening, and loving. Tim wanted to you all to remember the way he laughed, the guidance he gave, and the love that he felt. What you always will know is the friendships he shared, the sacrifices he made, the example he was, what you will always feel.is his love. Left to mourn his loss is his loving wife, Peggy; their children, Angela (Scott) Mergen and Coy, Joshua Hobbs and Camden, Brad (Joanna) Weir and Cole, Christa (Tim) Pansegrau and Megan, Emily, and Austin,AmyWeir(RodneyMorse) their children, Jacob, Jerica, and Hailey; his mother, Mary Lou Hobbs; his brother, Max Hobbs; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Cathy(Larry) Wehrman, Darryl(Jeannie) Diers, Joe(Lisa) Diers, Kristy(Brian) Kelderman; his in-laws, Fred and Maxine Diers; his ex-wife, Belinda Hobbs; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
