Todd Mullins

Todd Eric Mullins, 56, of Garwin, passed away on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at UnityPoint Health in Marshalltown. Funeral services for Todd will take place on Monday, December 21 at 10:30 A.M. at Garwin United Methodist Church followed by burial at Turner Cemetery in rural Garwin. Attendees are encouraged to wear casual attire. A visitation will be held Sunday, December 20 at 4:00-7:00 P.M. at Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown.  Memorials may be directed in Todd’s name to the Animal Rescue League or Garwin United Methodist Church. Todd was born on March 13, 1964 in David City, Nebraska to parents Jerry and Evelyn (Reschke) Mullins. His family moved to Garwin, Iowa in 1976, where he graduated High School with the class of 1982. Todd married the love of his life, Melinda Thompson, on April 26, 1986 at the Iowa River Church of the Brethren in rural Marshalltown. Todd was a hard worker, and over the years he worked at McCubbins/Stine Seeds, CertainTeed, Ritchie Industries, Mid Iowa Coop and Jeld-Wen Inc. He was also a harvest helper for Circle B Farms. Todd was a member of the Garwin United Methodist Church and a former Garwin City Council Member. Todd loved his family very much and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandkids.  In his free time, he liked to “turn a wrench” and work on projects in his shop, as well as fishing and spending time on the lake boating with family and friends. He enjoyed the peaceful scenery of the family farm, where he could shoot his guns and cut wood. He liked to stay busy and work with his hands but would always slow down to enjoy a cold Old Mil Light. Todd will always be remembered for his quick wit, easy-going attitude and creative mind. He never met a stranger and always knew how to have a good time. Todd is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Melinda; his beautiful daughters: Ashley (Luke) Dvorak and Brittany (Jeremy) Halverson; 5 grandchildren: Drayke, Berkley and Daisy Dvorak and Ainsley and Kennedy Halverson, 2 brothers: Brian (Melissa) and Steve (Laura) Mullins; several nieces and nephews and many close family friends. Todd is preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Evelyn, his grandparents and his brother, Mark Mullins.
