Todd Dean Nielsen

October 25, 1966 — March 6, 2021

Todd Dean Nielsen left his earthly home at the age of 54 to join his Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 6, 2021 following a motorcycle accident in Colorado. He was born in Marshalltown, Iowa on October 25, 1966 to Barry and Virginia (Ginny) Nielsen. Todd grew up on a family farm and attended and graduated from Garwin high school where he excelled in sports. He was a member of the Carlton Brethren Church where he attended as a small child and through his teen age years. Todd attended massage therapy school in Cedar Rapids, Iowa where he graduated and started his own business. While living in Cedar Rapids, he met his future wife Pamela Lenz of Solon, where they made their future home. Todd was the proud owner of Nielsen Quality Construction and a finish carpenter perfectionist. He was a dedicated volunteer fire fighter for the Solon Fire Department, Harley rider, lifetime Harley Owners Group and a member of the Snow-drifters Club. Pam and Todd eventually dissolved their marriage but continued to remain close friends. Todd soon moved to Colorado to be close to his sister, Tricia. He loved the mountains and the out of doors. He met a young woman by the name Dawn Hogan and they have one child together, Lillian Lucille (Lily) Nielsen, who was named after her two Great Grandmother’s. Lily is now 12 years old. She was truly the love of his life. Todd loved taking Lily to the Denver Stock Shows since she was two years old. On October 3, 2015, Todd married Heather Archer from Littleton, Colorado where they made their home. Todd worked for a large contracting equipment excavating company and was an expert in his field. Todd loved riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, the Denver Broncos and CBS Sunday Mornings. Todd is survived by his wife Heather, of Littleton, Co., daughter Lily, of Centennial, Co., stepdaughter Bella, Mother, Virginia (Ginny) of Marshalltown, Father, Barry of Garwin and sister, Tricia (Mark) Littlejohn, of McKinney, Tx. Father and mother-in-law Jerry and Sue Farringer of Co. Uncle’s and Aunt’s : Vernon and Connie Cooper of Cedar Rapids, Dr. Kennedy and Lori Fawcett of Ames, and Jim and Ellen Wilkening, of Marshalltown. Many cousins, loved ones and friends. Todd was preceded in death by his grandparents: Gerald and Lucille Cooper and Harold and Lillian Nielsen, his uncle and aunt Bill and Nancy (Nielsen) Schied and second cousins removed Chad and Kyle Cooper. A celebration of Todd’s life will be held on Saturday, March 20th at 3:00 P.M. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. There will be a visitation and lunch following the service. In lieu of flowers, any memorial gifts may be directed to “Memorial for Todd Nielsen.” A trust fund will be set up for Todd’s daughter, Lily’s future education.
