Treva House

October 7, 1942 — November 12, 2018

The generous soul and passionate heart of Treva House, age 76, of Marshalltown, departed this earthly life on the afternoon of Monday, November 12th, at the Iowa River Hospice Home with family at her side.            Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest at a later date. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. on Friday also at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family…flowers would only make Treva sneeze! For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com . Ph. 641-844-1234.           Born on October 7th, 1942, in Springer, NM, she was one of three children born to Noah “Buck” and Alice (Brown) Jordan. She graduated from the Canyon (TX) High School in 1960. She dearly loved her classmates and kept in touch with each and every one of them until her passing. After graduation, she and her parents moved to Clayton, NM, where she worked in the city office.           During a church convention in Wyoming, she met this handsome young man by the name of Wayne House. She was leaning on a table and he commented on how nice a job she was doing holding that table down! That was the beginning of over a half century of love together. The two were united in marriage on June 8th, 1966, at her home in Clayton, NM.            The young couple first lived in Laramie, WY, to complete Wayne’s education. Through mutual church friends, Wayne learned of an intern job in Marshalltown, IA, at Kenn’s Studio. The two moved here soon after and began internship and then purchase of the studio- even though he told Treva it “will only be for a year!” 50 years later they still called Marshalltown home. One of the rules they established in their marriage was this- if it was a major decision, Wayne made those; and if it was a minor decision- Treva made those. Wayne says “There were never any major decisions in 52 years!”            Following the sale of the studio in 1983, they made their home a daycare where they became “parents” to numerous children in the community- Wayne and the kids joked it was for 40 hours a day, 13 days a week, 11 weeks a month and 40 months a year but she loved every minute of it! In more recent years, the couple began working with Mannatech and in one year she was one of the leading 100 agents in the world. Her contemporaries and clients would pick up the phone to a passionate voice stating “Hi, this is Treva!”            In her 76 years on this earth, she touched the hearts and souls of everyone she met. She became “Treva Mom” to many who had challenges in their own home lives and were comforted by the hospitality and compassion she showed. Many late nights and meals were shared with younger generations in her kitchen. Her home, arms and heart were open to all - a ministry God gave her to do in this life. Treva treasured her family and enjoyed traveling, keeping in touch with classmates and beyond all others, leaned deeply on the comfort of her faith.            Left to cherish her memory are Wayne, her loving husband of 52 years, son Troy (La Nette) and their son Rogan of Brooklyn, NY; daughter Waynelle (Mark) Stichter of Marshalltown and children- Tyler (Caycee) Roberts, Violet and Mille all of Cedar Rapids, Jasey Roberts of Dubuque, Emily Roberts of Cedar Rapids and Jake Stichter of Marshalltown; her sister Noaleen (Elmer) Beaver of Chugwater, WY and brother Carl (Sharon) Jordan of Cedar Edge, CO, as well as her church family and numerous youngsters now adults from the day care.           In death, Treva rejoined her parents.
