“Jack” Valentin M. Aguilar, 68, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at Iowa River Hospice in Marshalltown, Iowa. He was surrounded by his loving family.

Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded under the care of the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. A visitation for family and friends is scheduled for Monday October, 23, 2023 from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family. Valentin M. Aguilar was born on November 29, 1954 at Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was the son of Valentin Aguilar Sr. and Lillian (Mauskemo) Aguilar. Jack graduated from South Tama High School and then on August 28, 1976 he married the love of his life, Sheryl Graff at Elim Lutheran Church in Marshalltown. Jack worked at Tama Pack, Donnelly Marketing in Nevada, IA, and finally retiring from Meskwaki Public Works after 23 years of service as a garbage truck driver. He enjoyed driving, fishing, mowing, working on cars and especially being a handyman for his daughters.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Sheryl Aguilar, daughters: Janette (Chris) Lowrance and Karen Aguilar, grandchildren: Darrian Aguilar, Caidias Mauskemo, Emily Lowrance, Peyton Lowrance, Kaley Lowrance, Minnie Funmaker, Gracie Roberts, and Ricky Roberts, and siblings: Harry Aguilar, Chris Fleener, and Alvie Fleener, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Jack is preceded in death by his mother, Lillian, sister Jessica, grandfather Harry Mauskemo, grandmother Jessie Morgan and nephew Elton “Mickey” Roberts.
