Veleta Pearl Tintjer

Veleta Pearl Tintjer, age 84, of Marshalltown, passed away on the afternoon of Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at the Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames with family at her side.                 Born Veleta Rouse on September 10, 1935, in Missouri, she was one of six children born to Harold and Edith (Fetters) Rouse. She received her education in the LeGrand School.                 On January 29, 1954, she was united in marriage to Marvin Stubbs. They had two boys and made their home in LeGrand. Marvin passed away on March 25, 1990. Veleta was blessed with having a second wonderful man in her life, Walt Tintjer, the two were married on May 5, 1996. They made their home in Marshalltown.                 Veleta was employed and retired from JC Penney, a member of the LeGrand Birthday Club and belonged to the exclusive-invitation only- Monday Margarita Club at El Portal and La Carretta - this is where world problems were solved and men were not allowed. Her week was not complete until her Wednesday trip to the casino with Walt and friends. Veleta was young at heart and so much fun. She loved spending time with her boys, grandkids, great grandkids, nieces and nephews. Family was the most important thing to her. She was a very special lady to many.                 Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Walt, two sons Ken Stubbs of Marshalltown, Den Stubbs of Garland, TX; stepdaughter Cathy Curphy, stepson Mike Tintjer, two grandsons, four granddaughters, six great grandsons, one great granddaughter, her sister Leota Giarratano, brother Norm Rouse; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.                 In death, Veleta rejoined Marvin, parents, brothers Lavern Rouse and Jack Rouse and sister Leta Peterson.                                                                                                    Visitation will be held from 5:30 to 7:00 P.M. Friday, December 20. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 21. Visitation and funeral will be at Mitchell Family Funeral Home.
