Velma Condon

Velma I. Condon, 97, passed away at her home in Marshall County, Iowa, on October 29, 2016. Pursuant to Velmas wishes, there will be no funeral services. For condolences or questions please visit: www.mitchellfh.com. Phone 641-844-1234. Velma was born on February 20, 1919, near Nevinville in Adams County, to Charles and Blanche (Bakerink) Daugherty. After her fathers death in 1929, Velma and her mother and her sister, Vinice, moved to Fontanelle, Iowa where Velma graduated from high school in 1936. Velma then taught in country school in Adair County for 10 years. On June 20, 1945, Velma married Avard Condon and they farmed and raised Angus cattle near Adair, Iowa. After Avards death in 1979, Velma moved to Marshalltown. Velma enjoyed gardening, flowers and feeding the birds. Velma is survived by her daughter, Marie Condon, and Maries partner, Ted Hoglan, and Teds son, Josh (Jamie) Hoglan, and Jamies son, Jhett. Velma was preceded in death by her husband, Avard Condon; her parents, Charles and Blanche Daugherty; and her sister, Vinice Daugherty.
