Velva Mueller, 88, of Marshalltown, died Tuesday morning, May 13th, at the Grandview Heights Care Center where she has resided since April 15th. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 16th, at St. Henrys Catholic Church with Fr. Don Czapla officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home from 5-7:00 p.m. on Thursday with a 7:00 p.m. vigil service. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Velva and her family. Ph 641-844-1234. Born on December 24th, 1919, in Akron, Colorado, she was the daughter of Harry and Georgianna (Westman) Forbes. She received her education in Marshalltown when her family moved to Iowa at a young age. On September 15th, 1940, in Marshalltown, she was united in marriage to John Mueller. They made Marshalltown their home where she was employed in childcare and babysitting and sold Avon for many years. She enjoyed crafts, puzzles, reading and camping and especially enjoyed spending time with her family. Mrs. Mueller was a member of St. Henrys Catholic Church, the Ave Maria Study Club, Family Campers and RVers, Marshall County Vagabonds, and the Heartlanders and was an honorary member of We-Wan-To-Go Winnebago Camping Club. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Richard Dick (Sue) Mueller of Cave Creek, Arizona, Don (Nancy) Mueller of Lincoln, Iowa, and Karen (Dale) Huston of Haverhill, seven grandchildren: Tom (Wendy) Mueller of Wildwood, MO, George Hobson of Auburn, WA, Donald Hobson in Oklahoma, Arlene (Tim) Bell of Beaman, Rochelle (Shane) Siemens of Traer, Michelle Huston and Jennifer Huston of Marshalltown, great-grandchildren: Greg, Stephanie and Jack Mueller of Wildwood, MO, Bradley, Melissa and Laura Hobson of Auburn, WA, Beonca, Breckon and Ariel Hobson in Oklahoma, Timmy, Skyler, Michael, and Bradley Bell of Beaman, Logan Siemens of Traer and Dalen Huston of Marshalltown, her sister Neva James of Anderson, SC and brother Marion Forbes of Castle Rock, CO., as well as several nieces and nephews. In death she has rejoined her parents, beloved husband John, daughter Patricia Hobson, and eight brothers: George, Bernard, Russell, Willard, Lowell, Cleo Glenn. Maurice and Harry Forbes, Jr. her parents-in-law John and Louise Mueller and great-granddaughter Mikayla.
