Vera Hall

Vera Hall, 96, of rural Marshalltown passed away early morning Wednesday, January 22, 2014, at the Iowa River Hospice Home with her daughters by her side and joining her sons that were awaiting her in Heaven. Per Veras request a private burial was held, with a family gathering to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family. Vera Evelyn Fleming was born at home on the Fleming Farm in Vienna Township in rural Marshall County on March 24, 1917. She was the daughter of J R Ray and Henrietta ( Milholland) Fleming. Vera attended Country School in Vienna Township #6 and then graduating from Green Mountain High School with the class of 1934. On June 1, 1937, Vera was united in marriage to Lloyd Waltemeyer and to this union they were blessed with 2 children, Charlotte and David. They later divorced. On August 19, 1948, Vera married Ralph Shorty Holl/Hall in Chicago, Illinois, and to this union they were blessed with 2 children, Robert and Virginia. They resided in the rural Green Mountain area. Vera sold Avon for many years and worked at the Iowa Veterans Home. She loved to garden, bake, and she made the absolute best cinnamon rolls and pies, she enjoyed crosswords and reading, but her passion was her family. Vera will be remembered as a very kind, caring, giving person with a very loving heart, and especially appreciated, her 2 grandsons who brightened her days often, Jeff Kunch and Ken Johnson Left to cherish her memory are her daughters: Charlotte Jean Kunch of Marshalltown, Iowa, and Virginia Ann (Richard) Johnson of Marshalltown, Iowa, daughter-in-laws, Shirley Waltemeyer of Marshalltown, Iowa and Connie Hall of Lincoln, Nebraska. 11, grandchildren and many great and great-great-grandchildren, Sister, Jean Elliott of Conrad, Iowa, sister-in-law Harriet Fleming and her faithful feline friend Mittens Kitten. In death Vera rejoins her parents, Ray and Henrietta, sons, David Waltemeyer and Robert Hall, brothers, John Fleming and Richard Fleming, grandson, Dwayne Waltemeyer and great-grandsons, Anthony Waltemeyer and Keegan Levis, sisters-in-law, Gertie Holl Rolston, Bessie Holl and Genie Fleming.
