Vera Vande Kamp Moyer

Vera Vande Kamp Moyer, 92, of Marshalltown, died early Thursday morning, June 28, at the Villa del Sol in Marshalltown where she has resided since February. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 5, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one-hour prior to the services. Born Vera Wilkinson on February 10, 1920, in Beresford, South Dakota, she was the youngest of ten children born to Edward and Ollie (Boldan) Wilkinson. As a young girl, the family moved to Marshalltown where her dad ran the gas station on the corner of 13th and Fremont Streets. She graduated from the Marshalltown High Schools Class of 1937. The next year, she was united in marriage to George Vande Kamp. She was employed at the Maid-Rite and Westwood Nursing Home for many years. George died in 1966 and she was married to Wilmer Moyer in 1975. He passed away in 2003. Left to cherish her memory are her three sons: Lonnie (Janie) Vande Kamp of Marshalltown, Jerry (Leah) Vande Kamp of Melbourne and Jon (Pam) Vande Kamp of Marshalltown; five grandchildren: Dean Vande Kamp of Rhodes, Tammy Vande Kamp of Melbourne, Jill Paxton (Myles) of West Des Moines, Mike (Monique) Vande Kamp of Ft. Lauderdale, and Melanie Vande Kamp of Winona, MN; three step-grandchildren: Austin, Whitney and Joshua Sowers; six great-grandchildren: Josiah, Regan, Alec, Sydney, Donovan, Elysia as well as many nieces and nephews. In death, she rejoined her parents, six sisters, three brothers, her beloved husbands George and Wilmer, a daughter-in-law Sandy, stepson Richard Moyer and wife, Joy.
