Vera Rubenbauer

Vera M. Rubenbauer, 87, passed away Thursday, November 1, 2012, at the Sunny Hill Care Center in Tama. A celebration of Veras life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 5, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Vera was born on November 22, 1924, to James and Martha (Carroll) Moore. She was raised and educated in the Central Iowa area. Vera was united in marriage to Dale Rubenbauer on June 30, 1944. Dale and Vera farmed in the Green Mountain area before moving to Marshalltown in 1990.Vera and Dale enjoyed traveling and spent many summers touring the United States, Canada and Alaska in their motor home. She loved to fish and a favorite location was Leech Lake, Minnesota. Vera was a dedicated farm wife, excellent cook, seamstress, and most importantly a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. Left to cherish Veras memory are her husband of 68 years, Dale, her daughters: C. Sue Matheny of Paradise, California, Rita Frederick (Joel Beane), Kathy (Reginald) Zwemke, and son Gary (Ann) Rubenbauer all of Marshalltown; grandchildren: Ronna Terrell, Rodney Frederick, Amy and Tom Foster, Wendy and Jim Gradwell, Lindsay and Shawn Wade, Disa and Blair Benefield, and Jamin Rubenbauer; 15 great-grandchildren, her brother Don (Leona) Moore, sister-in-law Betty (Truman) Rosedale, brothers-in-law Glen (Marlene) Rubenbauer and Dick (Mary Lou) Rubenbauer as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Memorials in her honor may be directed to the Iowa Hospice.
