Vernon Willis Maxon

Vernon Maxon, 71, of the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, IA, formerly of Des Moines, IA and Rhodes, IA, passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2017. Vernon Willis Maxon was born on September 15, 1945, in Des Moines, Iowa; he was the son of Vernon and Louise (Damerville) Maxon. He attended school in the area of his birth. Vernon served his country honorably in the United States Army from 1962 until 1970. Vernon was united in marriage to Daisy Cooper and they were married until her passing in 2005. Vernon had worked as a handyman, sold cars, and also at the Casino. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, going to the Casino and old westerns especially with Clint Eastwood and John Wayne. Left to cherish his memory are his children: Vernon Maxon III of Des Moines, Iowa, Tim (Brittany) Maxon of Marshalltown, Iowa; step-children, Dennis McElhany of Des Moines, Iowa and Sherri Bickford of Kansas City, Missouri, 7 grandchildren, and brother, Floyd Maxon of Des Moines.. In death Vernon rejoins his parents, Vernon and Louise Maxon.
