Vicki Brown, 57, of 1507 West Church Street, Marshalltown, died Monday, February 19th, at the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center. Funeral services and a celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 22nd, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with a time of fellowship and refreshments to follow in the hospitality room of the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in the Evergreen Cemetery at Red Oak, Iowa following 11:00 a.m. Friday funeral services in Red Oak. Friends may call at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home after 9:00 a.m. on Thursday until the service time. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Vicki and her family. Born on January 16th, 1950, at Audubon, Iowa, she was the daughter of Alex and Rita (Meggison) Hilzendeger. She graduated from the Red Oak High Schools Class of 1968. On March 2nd, 1969, she was united in marriage to Charles Chic Brown in West Des Moines. Vicki was employed at the Iowa Veterans Home for 26 years and represented the employees there as President of ASFCME Local #2984 and as Vice-President of the AFSCME State Council #61. Mrs. Brown will be fondly remembered for her love of family, support of her fellow co-workers, shopping, her appreciation of antiques, selling and attending flea markets. She will be greatly missed by many. Left to mourn her loss are her loving husband of 36 years, Charles Chic, children: Gregory Brown (Beth) of Garwin, Iowa, Jason Brown of Marshalltown, Joshua Brown of Mt. Dora, Florida and Heather (Darrin) Eige of Coralville, her precious grandchildren: David, Christopher, Patrick, Michaela, Garrett and Riley, sister Jody (Gary) Shellberg of Stanton, Iowa, and brother Terry (Dorothy) Hilzendeger of Red Oak, as well as her dogs- Baby Boy, Daisy, Winnie, Ricky and Benji. In death she has rejoined her parents and special grandmother, Daisy Meggison.
