Vickie Hafner

Vickie Lou (Spencer) Hafner Vickie Hafner passed peacefully on August 25th, 2022 at UnityPoint Health in Marshalltown, surrounded by family. She was born September 4th, 1948, the 6th of 8 children of Floyd and Ruth Spencer. She spent her early years in Quarry attending school and enjoying time with her siblings.
Vickie worked for many years at the Marshalltown hospital and then Wal-Mart until she retired. She then spent her later years helping to raise her great-grandson, Levi. In May of 1968, she was united in marriage to John Hafner, they later separated. The couple settled in the Marshalltown area and had three children: Melissa (James) Sears of Marshalltown, John S. Hafner of Marshalltown and Monica (Dale) Barber of State Center. Vickie had 12 grandchildren: Brittany Sears, Arrick Sears, Cassandra Sears, Jacob Sears, Robin John Hafner, Alexis Argo, Quentin Hafner, Blake Hafner, Katarina Hafner, Scott Hafner, Melissa Della Gala and Shiloh Barber. She also had many great-grandchildren. Vickie was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Ruth Spencer; John Hafner; grandson, Robin John Hafner; sisters: Linda Mattingly, Janice Smith, Debbie Forkner; niece, Lori Bakke; great-nephew, Jesse Fox; and loving family Doris and Wendell Morris. Left to mourn her passing are her family and loving friend, Bullet the dog. Mitchell Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements for Vickie and her family.
