Vicky Sue McCurnin was born August 3, 1948 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. She was the oldest of two daughters born to Maurice “Mac” and Mildred (Wollesen) McCurnin. Vicky’s family moved to Marshalltown when she was a child. She was a graduate of Marshalltown High School Class of 1966.

On January 6, 1979, Vicky was united in marriage to Charles “Chuck” Stanfield at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Marshalltown. They made their forever home in Marshalltown and raised two children, David and Jenny. While her children were in their early years, Vicky worked at Benson Optical until they closed. She took the time after to be home with her children and care for her family. In later years, she began working at Hoglan Elementary where she spent a few hours in the day preparing and serving meals to students. Although she spent a short time working for the school district, she greatly enjoyed it. Vicky alongside Chuck were longtime members of Redeemer Lutheran Church. As Chuck aged, she became a caregiver to him in his final years until his passing in 2019. She loved spending time with her family as often as she was able, enjoyed reading books, watching her favorite shows on TV, and collecting owls. She will be remembered by her family and friends for her kind and gentle spirit she always showed.

Those left to remember and cherish her memory are her children, David (Abby) Stanfield and Jenny Smith; five step-children, Brian Stanfield, Rhonda (Erich) Phillips, Lisa Abrams, Charlie (Jamie) Stanfield, and Tim (Jenette) Stanfield; six grandchildren, Eysak, Kyran and Jadyn Stanfield, Jamie and Joe Smith and Izabella Schmidt; one sister, Debra “Debbie” Thompson along with numerous cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Chuck; her parents, Mac and Mildred McCurnin; and brother-in-law, Norman “Chief” Thompson.
