Vinton Orville Carmer

Vinton Butch Orville Carmer, 60, of Grinnell, Iowa, passed away on Friday, July 19, 2013. Following cremation, a memorial service for Butch will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Butch and his family. Vinton Orville Carmer was born in Iowa City, Iowa, on June 5, 1953, the son of Charles and Charline (Stanley) Carmer. He was raised and educated in the Marshalltown school district graduating High School from Kirkwood. Butch honorably served our country in the Marine Corps as a PFC1. Butch was united in marriage to Joanne (Roberts) on December 31, 1979, in Marshalltown, Iowa. He was a Jack of all trades. Butch had a passion for fishing, camping, loved taking walks with his dog Silver and he also loved living in the south. Left to cherish his memory are his ex-wife, Joanne; three children: Mindy (Matt) Bradley, Vinton Carmer II, and Zebulin Carmer; five grandchildren; two sisters: Sharon (Don) Liger, and Lucy Carmer; and two brothers: Wayne (Renee) Carmer and Kenny (Kari) Carmer. He is preceded in death by his father, Charles A. Carmer, and his mother, Charline Carmer.
