Viola Elizabeth Lang

Viola Lang, 92, of Manchester, Iowa formerly of State Center passed away on October 29, 2013, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester, Iowa. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at St Josephs Catholic Church in State Center, Iowa. Visitation will be from 9:30 until service time at the Church. Burial will be at St Josephs Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to St. Josephs Catholic Church in State Center or The Good Neighbor Home in Manchester, Iowa. Viola Elizabeth Wolf was born the only child of Chester and Gladys (Parsons) Wolf near State Center, Iowa on November 10, 1920. She was raised in the State Center and Melbourne area and graduated from Melbourne High School with the class of 1938. On October 10, 1940, she married Clarence Sylvester Lang and they farmed in the Haverhill and State Center area until their retirement. Clarence died on March 28, 1992 after which Viola left the farm and moved to State Center. On May 11, 1996, she married Harold Lang; he passed in 1999. Viola enjoyed playing cards, quilting, crocheting and knitting. She belonged to several clubs including the State Center Senior Citizens and the American Legion Auxiliary. Viola is survived by one daughter, Carol(Jerry) Burke of Manchester, Iowa; two grandsons, Ryan(Gina) Burke of Iowa City and Stephen Burke of Delhi; two great grandchildren, Emmett and Maggie Burke of Iowa City. She is also survived by Harolds children; Linda Lang Cox, Mary Lang Reisinger, Janet Lang German, Joyce Lang Barren, Marty Barnett, Lori Kimball, Jerry Lang, Bob Lang, Jim Lang, Becky Lang Carr, and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. Viola was preceded in death by her two husbands, Clarence and Harold and her parents, Chester and Gladys.
